Terms of use
A plain-language summary of the licence agreement.
This page is a summary, written to be read. The Licence Agreement is the document you actually agree to, and the Privacy and Refund policies form part of it. Where this page and those differ, those govern.
Your licence
Buying Akastroid Pro grants you a permanent, non-exclusive licence to use it on one computer (two for Pro Studio). It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription (Pro Monthly is the exception, and is charged each month until you cancel it).
Updates. Pro and Pro Studio include every future version, version 2 and later included. A Pro licence bought from 19 to 23 October 2026 includes the releases of the year after its purchase, as it was sold, and the version you have keeps working for as long as you use it.
Computers, any platform. A licence bought from 20 October 2026 covers the computers it is first activated on: one for Pro and Pro Monthly, two for Pro Studio. It cannot be moved to another computer. Two operating systems on one computer, such as Windows and Linux, count as two computers. The same key activates the macOS, Windows and Linux builds, so that computer can run whichever you need, at no extra cost. If the computer is replaced or breaks, write to hello@akastroid.com and we will reset the licence for the new one.
Licences bought before 20 October 2026 keep the terms they were sold with: Pro covers one computer at a time and Pro Studio two, and you may move a licence: open Akastroid on the old machine, choose Deactivate this computer, and activate on the new one, as often as you like. If the old machine was lost, sold or wiped first, release it from your account page or write to us.
Entering a key makes one request to our activation server, to register the machine and count it. Apart from the update check and the one-time first-open report described in the privacy policy, that is the only time Akastroid contacts us. It does not check in on export or on a schedule, and what is sent is a hashed machine fingerprint, not an identifier we could turn back into your computer. The Privacy policy sets out exactly what is stored.
You may not redistribute, resell or sublicense the software, or attempt to circumvent licensing.
Your images are yours
We claim no rights over anything you process. Your frames, your stacks and your finished images are your own, for any purpose including commercial ones. Akastroid is a tool, and using a tool does not give its maker a stake in the result.
Refunds
Fourteen days, no questions asked, wherever you are. Email us and we will refund the purchase. We would rather you tell us what went wrong, but you are not required to.
What we promise, and what we do not
For 90 days from purchase we warrant that Akastroid works substantially as described. If it does not, tell us and we will fix it or refund you.
Beyond that, the software is provided as it is. We have tested it extensively, but we cannot promise it is free of defects, that it will suit a particular purpose, or that it will produce a result you like from a given set of frames. Astrophotography has too many variables for anyone to promise that honestly. Nothing here removes a consumer right the law does not let us remove.
Keep your original frames. Akastroid reads them and does not modify them, but no processing tool should be the only copy of your data. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid for the licence.
Acceptable use
Akastroid does not invent detail. It measures, aligns and combines what your telescope recorded. If you present its output as a scientific measurement, the responsibility for that claim is yours. The processing log records every decision made, and we suggest publishing it alongside.
Ending the agreement
You may stop using the software at any time. We may terminate a licence obtained fraudulently or used in breach of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without limiting any consumer rights you hold where you live.
